Queens Park Rooms

We have created a warm and homely environment, with carefully selected equipment with each individual in mind. Your child will be assigned a key worker – who will form the link between you, the nursery and your child; using this system, we are able to ensure that all children receive the amount of personal attention and care they deserve.

  • Constant movement and exploration is how children learn and grow; seeing themselves in relation to their environment while developing coordination of the body and brain. The equipment selected will enable your child to refine their motor skills through a range of actions, such as sliding, bouncing, crawling, and walking!

Babies in this room are also exposed to well-planned activities and sensory resources, as they develop naturally through discovery and play. Activities like sand, water, messy play, and treasure baskets are accessible throughout the day.

As Maria Montessori believed that children need to explore objects made of natural and holistic materials through their interaction with these materials, the children are:

    • Encouraging the use of their senses

    • Developing Listening and Attention

    • Refining their coordination and motor skills

    • Developing the ability to make simple choices and express a preference

Children in the Daisy Room are given access to our safe and secure garden, with a range of activities that extend the indoor environment. These children are escorted to the garden at least once a day – come rain come shine.

We understand that diet has a major impact on your child; staff work in partnership with parents to ensure that all dietary requirements are met, and support is given during the weaning process. Together with the staff, you will develop a weaning menu that works for your family.

  • Our Poppies classroom caters for children aged 18-30 months and benefits from a self-contained classroom and bathroom area.

The classroom boasts three bright and spacious areas that focus on refining the prime areas of development: Communication and Language;Physical Development; and, Personal, Social and Emotional Development.

The children in this classroom are given access to a wide range of resources that reflect the cycle of observation and planning. The children’s own interests and next steps are reflected in both the planned activities and the continuous provision.

Children in this room with have access the Montessori Forrest School curriculum 2-3 times a week.

The purpose-built classroom boasts breezes and sunlight. With easy access to the garden, the children are able to benefit from the garden area and its activities.

The classroom planning includes a range of activities, extending from literacy and numeracy to language and cultural lessons. Each child is treated as a true individual, and the provisions reflect this.

The well-qualified staff set a scene of mutual respect, empathy and community. Through the use of the Montessori auto-didactic materials, we are able to deliver the EYFS curriculum in a creative and individualised way.

We understand that diet has a major impact on your child; staff work in partnership with parents to ensure that all dietary requirements are met, and support is given for more discerning eaters. Children are given more responsibility during mealtimes and will serve themselves food and help wash up after their meals.

  • "Thank you Wetherby House Montessori for taking good care of my boys.

We have been with WHM Northwood since January 2022, when my older son started in Poppies room at 17 months old. He has thrived during his time at the nursery, enjoying the warm friendly atmosphere, the caring nature of the staff, the breadth of activities on offer and the nutritious hot meals served daily. We have enjoyed seeing him develop into a very happy, well mannered, caring and intelligent young boy and look forward to him starting school in September.

Our younger son started in Tiger lillies in September 2023 and he relishes going in daily, excited to see the staff members and sit down for breakfast with his peers. He is currently 20 months old and nursery has helped ensure he can feed himself independently, socialise with others, construct basic sentences and sequence numbers up to 10. I am very pleased to see he is happy, confident and learning well."
